U18 Sports Medicine
When Injuries Hit, Our All-Star Team is Ready to Help
U18 Sports Medicine at Memorial Hospital Miramar takes great pride in maintaining a high standard of excellence in
the treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in children and teens. From diagnosis through rehabilitation,
we’re here to help every step of the way.
Our team roster includes:
- Board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeons affiliated with Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, one of the most trusted names in healthcare
- Certified orthopaedic physical therapists with sports medicine experience
- A nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant and athletic trainers to support care and help patients return to peak performance
Undivided Attention, Individualized Care
What sets us apart from other orthopaedic centers? It’s the undivided attention we give our patients. Young athletes don’t have to be MVPs to get the VIP treatment from us. We consider every patient special, and we develop our treatment plans accordingly, taking into account age, gender, diagnosis and sport-specific concerns. And unlike facilities where physical therapy is offered in a group setting, U18 Sports Medicine provides one-on-one sessions lasting a full 45 minutes, for better outcomes and personalized care.
Care for Many Injuries
We diagnose and treat an extensive range of acute and chronic injuries experienced by athletes under 18, including:
- ACL injuries
- Fractures
- Gender-specific concerns
- Growth plate injuries
- Little League elbow
- Overuse injuries
- Sprains and strains
We even have expertise in conditions that affect overall wellness, such as female athlete triad (a combination of three interrelated problems – eating disorder, amenorrhea and osteoporosis). Best of all, with the full support of the pediatric emergency departments of Memorial Hospital Miramar and nearby Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, we’re always ready to spring into action.
Designed with Young Athletes in Mind
Just like our healthcare team, our U18 Sports
Medicine facility was developed to meet the needs of student athletes and their families. With all our experts
housed under one roof on the Memorial Hospital Miramar campus, our goal is to cover all the bases and provide comprehensive, one-stop care.
Our facility’s competitive advantages include:
- Leading-edge technology
- Advanced X-ray diagnostics
- A dedicated casting room for fractures
- Sports-specific equipment for physical rehabilitation
What’s more, our office is comfortable and inviting. Family members can relax in the waiting area and still have a full view of the physical therapy gym.
